Conservation Framing

Samuel Owen Gallery offers an array of hand crafted frames imported worldwide. Our boutique framing gallery offers an impressive collection of the most original frames, with hand-painted, hand carved, leather, and gold leafed mouldings. We are committed to helping each customer tastefully match a custom frame to the work of art it will hold and to the environment where it will hang.

If it's worth framing, it's worth protecting. We encourage our customers to use only conservation quality mat board and glass with UV protection on everything we frame. Put simply, conservation framing employs the use of materials that have been proven to protect and maintain art in as close to its original condition as possible.

Restoration

An experienced restorer can make some amazing improvements to a fragile or damaged work of art. Linen backing is a conservation method used to mount and preserve vintage posters and other printed works of art on paper so they can be displayed or framed without compromising value. All the materials used in this mounting and restoration process are acid-free and reversible with water.

Damaged posters are stabilized through the linen backing process to protect the artwork from further damage. Linen backing holds the artwork flat and smooth allowing it to be easily handled and framed.

Our team has restored and preserved works by great poster artists such as A.M Cassandre, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Leonetto Cappiello, and Alphonse Mucha. We have also restored original works by 20th century artists such as Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein and Peter Max.
