Coco Vader! V3PO Louis Vuitton! You HAVE to See This Fashion Meets Star Wars Art

May 2, 2014 - Fawnia Soo Hoo of Glamour Magazine

So, as well-rounded, forward-thinking fashion people, we'd like to take a moment to commemorate National Star Wars Day this Sunday, May 4. ("May the Fourth Be With You," get it? Stop snickering.) And, just in time, award-winning entertainment photographer Dale May—who has previously worked with Charlize Theron, Amy Poehler, and Jared Leto—created an irreverently fun and, dare we say, fashion-y Star Wars project.

Dale May's Stormtroopers, from his ever-popular LEGO WARS series, was spotted in the May/June issue of At Home in Faifield County, a local publication focused on home decor & lifestyle. Stormtroopers can be seen adorning the wall of a young boys' bedroom in a local home being featured as the "Family Style" exemplar for this months' cover story.

The Force Is Strong With This One

December 20, 2013 - Photo District News Online

Celebrity and advertising photographer Dale May loves Star Wars because “it has more iconic, amazing characters than any other film to date.” The Star Wars figures in May’s series, “LEGO WARS,” seem to come to life. May imagined what they’d look like if they were alive (X-ray Darth Vader, Chrome Trooper/Trooper X-ray), as they’d be dressed up for Halloween (Mickey Trooper), and then as fashionistas (Coco Vader, V3PO, Tiffany Trooper/Tiffany Trout). The macro photographs are then manipulated and enhanced in Photoshop and then printed with acrylic front mounting and backed with aluminum dibond which May says gives the prints “a contemporary, high-polished look, not unlike the toys themselves.” Check out the complete “LEGO WARS” series at the Samuel Owens Gallery.
