Eric Zener
Eric Zener was born in 1966 in Astoria, Oregon. He is a self-taught photorealist artist recognized for his figure paintings of lone subjects often submerged in swimming pools. He employs water as a metaphorical tool to express renewal and personal transformation, as well as the ephemeral sense of escape people feel when they plunge below the surface.
It speaks to the collective desire in all of us to retreat from the noise of the world, challenging the shallow, surface-level questions and concerns that frame our daily lives. Additionally, he works across a broad spectrum of materials, including paint, silver leaf, and resin, to create texture, depth, and dimensionality in his work.
He has exhibited his pieces across Asia, Australia, and Europe and has published his work in a number of art magazines. Zener currently lives and works in San Francisco, California.
