David Yarrow
David Yarrow shot The Breakdown on the same remote stretch of West Texas road the Coen brothers used for No Country for Old Men, filming near Marfa around the same time Paul Thomas Anderson was shooting There Will Be Blood twenty miles away. Where the Coen brothers' film gave us Anton Chigurh and a story of bad men and marginalized women, Yarrow wanted to tell a different story on the same road: one of good cowboys with manners and Texan women who enjoy life whatever the circumstances, which he found to be the norm rather than the exception in his time in Texas.
