David Yarrow
Landwoman continues Yarrow's exploration of women in industries long dominated by men, drawing on the story of Emma Summers, who in 1893 used the $700 she earned from piano lessons to buy half ownership of an oil well and built it into a business producing 50,000 barrels a month, earning her the title "Oil Queen of California." Yarrow built the set from an archival photograph of an early oil derrick, casting model Kelsey Merritt as his Landwoman.
