The gallery recently opened in a 1,500-square-foot space that was occupied by Toc Toc, a clothing and accessories boutique operated by Claire Maestroni, owner of Mis en Scene on East Putnam Avenue. She is subleasing the space to the Milazzos.
Greenwich Avenue in Greenwich has always been known as a retail destination, but now shoppers have another reason to visit the high-end shopping district.
Lee and Cindy Milazzo have opened the Samuel Owen Gallery at 378 Greenwich Ave., and are anticipating a grand opening on June 16 from 5:30 to 9 p.m., when Roberto Dutesco, photographer of the "Wild Horses of Sable Island," will display his work.
"The exposure on Greenwich Avenue can't be beat. There's an amazing tourist contingency that comes to Greenwich Avenue. We have a diverse and worldly clientele that understand fine art," said Lee Milazzo, a Greenwich resident who works with his wife and three employees at the gallery. "My background is in fine arts. I've always bought and sold artwork. I amassed a collection of over 2,500 works of art."
