Overview

Dan Baldwin is a contemporary British artist born in 1972, recognized for his kaleidoscopic paintings and ceramic vases. He juxtaposes rich acrylic paints and primary colors with sinister motifs that evoke themes existing in the natural world such as life, death, and decay, creating simultaneously morbid yet playful works.

Baldwin received a degree in Illustration from the Kent Institute in England, an art school that boasts notable alumni including Tracey Emin and Billy Childish. Since then, he has been thought of as a key figure in the Young British Artists Movement and has exhibited with the likes of Damien Hirst, Banksy, and Sir Peter Blake. His work has also been appreciated on a global scale, including critically-acclaimed sell-out solo shows in London, Los Angeles, and New York, as well as art fairs in Basel, Miami, and Tokyo. Additionally, his work has been published in leading magazines including Vogue, Elle, The New Order, Art of England, Aesthetica, Dazed and Confused, Modern Painters, and I.D.

His work can be found in the permanent collections of the Groucho Club, Café Royal, and House of St. Barnabas, Damien Hirst, Sir. Ronald Cohen, and Jake Chapman. He has also donated art to support charities including Teenage Cancer Trust, Teen Cancer America, British Heart Foundation, and Peace One Day. Dan Baldwin currently lives and works in England.
