Midland, Texas
Drill, Baby, Drill was shot in the cotton fields southwest of Midland, where irrigated green land sits atop the Permian Basin, one of the world's great oil reserves. Yarrow positioned a 1959 Pontiac Bonneville in profile against the horizontal skyline of pump jacks, drawing on the imagery of Green Book and Andreas Gursky's photograph Rhine for its symmetry and parallel lines. Cody Campbell and his fellow Texas Tech alumni helped make the shoot possible in the Permian Basin.
